As a health service, Bendigo Health observes high standards of cleanliness and hygiene to reduce the risk of infection and disease. The Infection Prevention and Control Unit works across Bendigo Health from its base on Level 4, Kurmala Building of the Bendigo Hospital, providing consultancy for many health services throughout the Loddon Mallee region. The unit's role is educate and assist with the prevention and monitoring of infections, methods of control, and the rapid identification and investigation of outbreaks of potential infection hazards. The unit provides advice on all aspects of prevention and control of infection and the isolation of infectious patients, making day to day decisions with staff in all areas where potential risks of infection occur. The unit is also responsible for developing and evaluating policies aimed at preventing infection and its spread, and providing education for staff on measures of infection control. A staff immunisation service is provided to all staff of Bendigo Health. Information is also provided to the general public on infection(s) and related issues, and a wide range of resources is available. Also See:
