Expansive corridors, on three levels with sitting and tea rooms, provide a private setting for residents enjoyment, with small balconies and comfortable seating. The large lounge dining area on level two enables all residents to enjoy social interaction. Large outdoor garden areas and patios provide an area of tranquillity for quiet reflection.
Stella Anderson Nursing Home was refurbished and reopened in 1999. It underwent successful accreditation in 2003.
Residents are cared for by registered nurses 24 hours per day and medical care is provided by the resident's own general practitioner. Food and environmental staff are responsible for the delivery of food and keeping our environment exceptionally clean and pleasant to live and work. Various support services are available to residents when required through Bendigo Health.
Residents are encouraged to bring in personal belongings and furniture from home to make their room as homelike as possible. They are also encouraged to continue enjoying any appropriate community activities in which they participate. Residents and/or their families are encouraged to participate in making decisions about their care.
Stella Anderson has lifestyle workers, and a wonderful team of volunteers. A calendar of activities, outings and special events is planned each month. The activity program is designed to be therapeutic and provides the opportunity for stimulation and meaningful social interaction whilst promoting expression of the resident's individuality and independence. Input and participation by family members in the activity program is welcome and appreciated.
