Deaf Access Loddon Mallee is an information service about deafness and hearing impairment for people who live in the Loddon Mallee Region.  It provides up-to-date information for deaf people, hearing-impaired people, their families and carers, service providers, agencies and interested people.

Staff also talk to the community about hearing impairment, so that people like doctors and social workers have a better understanding of something that is sometimes very misunderstood.

Deaf Access Loddon Mallee covers the shires of Buloke, Campaspe, Central Goldfields, Gannawarra, Loddon, Macedon Ranges, and Mount Alexander, the rural Cities of Mildura and Swan Hill, and the City of Greater Bendigo.  There are similar information services available in other parts of the state.

Hearing aids:

Those receiving pension or some other benefit may be entitled to hearing aids and other services free of charge through a scheme administered by the Office of Hearing Services. Please phone 1800 686 126 for more information.

Teletypewriters (TTY):

A teletypewriter (TTY) means people can chat to anyone, regardless of how little they can hear.  A TTY may only cost a couple of dollars a month.  More information is available from Telstra on 1800 068 424.  With the relay service people can ring anyone, even if the other person does not have a TTY.  And for those who speak, they can speak to the person and read their reply! Please phone the above numbers for more information.
