The department of nutrition and dietetics provides a range of nutrition services across Bendigo Health as an integral part of an holistic approach to health care.

Service description:

• Nutrition and dietetic services to: inpatients and outpatients of our services, residential care, psychiatric services, home visits and outreach services to community clients
• Services include: individual assessments of nutritional status, provision of therapeutic diets, education and support for clients and their carers regarding ongoing nutritional needs
• Nutrition education programs to staff, other health professionals and community groups
• Support and consultation to the food services department to ensure meals are nutritionally balanced and meet the needs of clients for a range of special diets
• Management of the Home Enteral Nutrition (HEN) Program and the nutrition supplement shop
• Health promotion activities
• Supervision of dietetics students from a range of universities
• Provides dietitians with opportunities for continuing professional development
